Ingo Rasp – «The Phenomenon of Memory»

Event period: 14. January - 5. March 2022

© Ingo Rasp, from the "Sahara Sand" series

In February 2021, huge amounts of Sahara sand were blown from Africa into the Swiss Alps, mountain massifs and glaciers seemed orange. In his work "Sahara Sand Series", Ingo Rasp uses aerial photographs to document this meteorological phenomenon of "blood snow" in the Alps and uses it as a narrative for the universal process of becoming, change and decay.

Rasp interprets the structures created by nature in his images as shapes, lines and textures, which initially make the photographs appear like abstract paintings or drawings. The global phenomena of change are reflected in the details of his images. Rasp took aerial photographs in the canton of Graubünden and photographed them from a helicopter. /ir
