"Paris Photo". On the initiative of the Basel Northwest Switzerland Section, five SBF members and their partners (including the SBF editorial team) met in Paris last weekend to visit the "Paris Photo", one of the world's largest art fairs for photography.
The fair celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. From 10 to 13 November, around 180 art dealers showed works by over 1600 photographers at the Grand Palais Éphémère, including those of the Ukrainian Boris Mikhailov, one of the most important photographers of the former Soviet Union. The galleries came from 31 countries.
The programme included curated exhibitions, awards, talks with curators and artists as well as special events dealing with the history of the medium, different visions or new trends. As every year, the exhibition was very well attended. For some Basel photographers, it was their first visit to Paris Photo. Enthusiastic feedback, a shared dinner and a very active WhatsApp group made for a successful SBF short trip.
