Event period: 26. - 27. April 2024

In this two-day workshop in Chur, Martin Bissig will give you the basic knowledge you need to create professional films with your camera. From camera operation and filming a short clip to editing and dubbing: at the end of the workshop you will have the necessary know-how to realise your own film productions. And without spending a lot of money on additional equipment or software.

For whom
This workshop is aimed at all photographers for whom the topic of film has been too complex until now. Previous knowledge of film is not necessary, but you should be familiar with the basic functions of photography. For this workshop you need an SLR or mirrorless camera incl.

Lenses (manufacturer does not matter). A tripod is an advantage.

The programme
The mixture of theory and practice makes this workshop unique.

On Saturday morning, we will show you from scratch which camera settings are suitable for filming and how to use your camera correctly. What resolution and frame rate is suitable? What is the advantage of filming with LOG and what are the best settings for this? What is the best way to set the autofocus? How do I set up different cameras (action cam, drone, etc.) so that I get the same image when editing?

In storytelling, I'll show you the different image settings and give you tips on what you need to pay particular attention to when telling a story.

We will also take a closer look at audio and additional equipment. Do I need ND filters? Which microphone do I use for which purposes? How do I ensure that the colours are displayed correctly? Lighting, yes or no?

On Saturday afternoon we will set off and put what we have learnt into practice. Each participant will film a few sequences with their own camera, which we will later edit into a short film.

Sunday is all about post-production. The free version of the Davinci Resolve video programme runs on Mac and Windows and includes all the necessary functions. I'll show you the most important points and we'll go through the workflow together: setting up the program, importing footage and creating proxies for quick editing, categorising and reviewing footage, rough and fine editing, colour grading LOG footage, working with LUTs, adding royalty-free music and exporting the final result. By the end of the day, you will have a basic knowledge of the programme and will be able to implement more complex projects.
