CH becomes Swiss - ALPA of Switzerland with a new web presence.

ALPA has fundamentally renewed its web presence during the Covid19 crisis. With its first online site in 1996, ALPA of Switzerland is already almost a web pioneer. This new iteration is the eighth fundamentally revised version of the site. To react faster and more comprehensively to customer needs, ALPA has carried out the development entirely independently.

ALPA shows a large number of customer portfolios with currently about 200 photographers and several thousand images. The website also features several hundred current products in text and images, photographic know-how, archives, and more. New CMS online platforms are in place for development, administration, and publication came into play so that the whole undertaking could be fulfilled in the minimum time and with the highest flexibility. Due to ALPA's global orientation, the website's content is maintained in English but offered to visitors in eight other languages ranging from German and Portuguese to Russian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese through a French real-time machine translation solution. Due to many possible combinations, a pure online purchase is complicated, and ALPA relies on personal consultation.

Nevertheless, ALPA has offered an online ordering system for its dealers and watch list functions for all interested parties for many years. Due to data protection considerations (GDPR), the newsletter and eCommerce parts are now at home on European servers.

Last but not least, the time had come to change the primary address to the exclusive "dot Swiss" address. Older databases and thousands of images are currently still being migrated. Using new technologies, ALPA could now initiate the change from a relatively rigid construct to a living web-organism as part of the ALPA products with numerous new freedoms and exciting possibilities.
