André Melchior (1926 - 2021). Tall, always with a smile and, of course, the obligatory Peret - André Melchior could not be missed at Section events. It was with great dismay that we learned that André passed away unexpectedly on 10 August, shortly before his 95th birthday.

Even during his apprenticeship (1944-1947) he produced photo reportages, notably his famous shots of Churchill's visit to Switzerland. He was a factory photographer, documented for the Pestalozzi Children's Village and refugee aid, was an industrial, architectural and advertising photographer and, from 1961, a vocational photographer for the vocational guidance service of the city of Zurich. Here he documented and portrayed every apprenticeship for the brochures "Zur Berufswahl".

With André we lose an esteemed honorary member of SERI, one of Switzerland's best-known vocational photographers and a wonderful person. His impressive pictures will endure.
