AI and photography - opportunities and responsibility
In Guy Jost's studio, we were able to listen to an exciting presentation by Christoph Schütz on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI). Schütz gave a well-founded introduction to legal aspects such as copyright, authenticity and labelling obligations for AI-generated content. He showed what new opportunities AI offers photographers - from efficient image processing to the development of creative concepts.
In the subsequent plenary session, we discussed the impact of AI on our profession: Will AI become just another tool like the camera and Photoshop, or will it fundamentally change our work? In photojournalism in particular, it became clear how important transparency and ethical behaviour remain. Schütz warned of the risks of deception through AI-generated images and emphasised the central role of transparency in maintaining trust in visual media.
