Seventh KIK ‘Round Table’.
On Tuesday 4 March, the AI Alliance Creative Industries (KIK) met virtually for the seventh ‘round table’ since its inception in autumn 2023. The most important topic was the Alliance's press release ‘Too little, too late’, which also aims to make KIK's demands more visible. In addition to better protection of intellectual property in the context of AI, support for Motion SR Petra Gössi was highlighted and recommended, as the Federal Council's interpretative statement of 12 February is considered insufficient. The Council of States is scheduled to discuss the Gössi motion on 20 March. With regard to the EU's AI Act, legal experts are realising that it is more likely to be classified as soft law and that not too much hope should be placed in it as an effective instrument. In contrast, an interim decision was made in the USA. There, the unsolicited use of data for AI training was categorised as a copyright infringement. KIK will soon enter into dialogue with the FDJP and also seek contact with other creative industry associations in order to expand the circle of supporters. KIK Medienmitteilung
